I was kept rather busy over the School Holidays; but from time to time I snuck (read: Woke up earlier) away to keep up with my Reading Plan and with what’s been happening in the Christian “Blogosphere”. Here’s what I’ve been reading:
The Gospel Coalition:
- Is Spirit Baptism the Privilege of Every Christian?
Short Answer – “For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body” 1 Cor 12:13. But, read the article for a more comprehensive one.
- How to Be the Friend You’ve Always Wanted
A great reminder for all, with practical steps for us to follow.
- Why Genesis 1 Is Pro-Science
For a Young Earth Creationist it’s a good reminder that the Bible isn’t anti-science but rather pro-science.
During September I was able to read through three books. You can find the one I recommend reading here.
- What’s changed in Britain since same-sex marriage?
The repeated battle cry of the progressive is that what they’re pushing for doesn’t personally affect anyone. But, proof shows otherwise.
- Christian Group to Pay for Transgender Surgeries
This is an odd topic… But, I appreciate the way in which Ken Ham disagrees while maintaining a loving tone.
- Incredible 30-Day Journey Of A Cargo Ship In A Timelapse Shows What Most Of Us Will Never See In Our Lifetimes
If you’re into timelapses, or just like watching random stuff off the internet. Then this is for you.
- 116 Been Real
Last Blog Buffet I shared Shai Linne’s thoughts on the state of Christian HipHop. Another big name in that genre is Lecrae; recently he was interviewed. Here, Piper weighs in and gives us his thoughts on what Lecrae said.
- 90 Atheist Quotes Every Christian & Atheist Need To Read
I skim read this and hope to return to it in the future. Maybe you’ll do the same.
- On Losing the Ability to Type (and The Ol’ Ball and Chain)
I love Tim Challies and I endeavor to read all that he writes – something that may be easier for a time. Here he explains why he is transitioning to “vlogging” for the time being.
- New Infographic: The Order and Causes of Salvation and Damnation
This will be finding a spot on my “Wall of Awesome” today.
- The Purpose of Pornography
I’ve struggled with Pornography for most of my life. Reading articles like this remind me of the worthlessness of it.
“Why has sex come to be seen as the central purpose of human existence? Is it just hedonism? A combination of Augustine, Pascal and Freud might provide the answer: Sex distracts us from death.”
- The Ordinary Means of Soul Winning
The very first sentence hooks you in this article and I couldn’t agree anymore:
“One of the greatest tricks the devil has ever pulled is convincing the church that it needs to become like the world in order to win the world. In the twenty-first century, the church has been seduced by the world rather than turning the world upside down.”
- Calvinist – The Movie
Last on the table is this new documentary I watched the other night with some friends. I recommend it, and not only because I agree with it’s theology but also because of the beautiful shots used.
